Communicating Accountability:

Telling Your Story about Student Learning & Achievement in Public Schools

Workshop Description:

The Era of Accountability is putting tremendous pressure on public education to demonstrate results. For nearly three decades, the era of reform was filled with “R” words (restructure, reengineer, reform, reinvent, etc.). The only “R” word parents, politicians, the press and the public want today is results! Today, only “A” words are in vogue: Accountability, Assessment, Achievement and Accessibility. Whether it’s from Washington DC, the state capitol or your local citizenry, everyone wants public schools to show what they are doing to boost student performance and competitiveness. This workshop will help your schools get straight A’s in communication in this vital area.

In this workshop, attendees will come away with practical tools and techniques and a deeper understanding of –

  • What the public expects from its public schools based on survey research
  • Getting all staff on board as key communicators about student learning and performance

Developing a communications plan to roll out and manage
your accountability messages

In each area, attendees will receive practical tips on how best to craft and deliver to critical target audiences key messages that demonstrate your school district accountability plan. Mass communication and interpersonal techniques will be covered so you can walk away with a detailed action plan. Specific emphasis will be placed on closing the Achievement Gap and describing pathways to success for all students.
