School Labor Negotiations Communication

Communication Resources for Schools is recognized nationally for its depth of experience and expertise in communicating during difficult collective bargaining situations in school districts. Tom DeLapp has worked with nearly 100 school districts over the last 10 years as a communications advisor to the management negotiating team.

Mr. DeLapp assists the district team by –

  • Creating and implementing a strategic communications plan for school labor negotiations including development of core values and key messages
  • Researching, designing and writing fact sheets, Labor Negotiations Updates, FAQs bulletins, negotiations clearinghouse web sites, management briefing materials, and community letters and newspaper ads
  • Training site administrators and district office personnel on labor relations, collective bargaining and strike preparations
  • Served as media spokesperson during impasse situations and union job actions
  • Advising and assisting in preparing materials for fact finding and mediation sessions
  • Establishing and managing communication command centers during strikes
